What’s Really In Your “Tap” Water?

what's really in your tap water?

Most people don’t have a clue about what is really in their tap water. It is just water, right? What could be dangerous about that? What if I told you that your tap water could be poisoning you and your family? Do you think I’m crazy, or a lunatic? If you want to remain healthy, then you owe it to yourself to at least learn the facts.

New studies have surfaced recently about water that should be announced to everyone. Your cities water may not be as hazardous to you as, say Flint, Michigan’s water supply. But make no mistake, it is NOT as safe as you were lead to believe.

What is most tap water used for?

It is normally used for washing hands, or for bathing, or even drinking. It is used in cooking, washing vegetables before consuming, washing dishes, clothes, or mopping your floors. What is alarming about this is that it could be a health hazard.

We all know that our public water supply here in the United States is much more safe than the water that is found in other countries. Overseas people rely on bottled water to drink.

More and more people all over the world, including the United States, are now consuming bottled water because they trust it to be safe, sanitized, and much more healthy for you. Unfortunately, this is simply not true.

In 2013 the FDA agreed to increase regulation on the bottled water industry citing, “more regulation needs to be administered for adequate and safe regulation because more people are relying on bottled water for daily consumption”.

However, nothing has been done to ensure bottled water is as safe, or safer, than normal tap water. Why? It happens to be a flaw in the system that regulates and maintains the reporting and monitoring of these safeguards.

According to the NRDA, or Natural Resources Defense Council, has determined that bottled water isn’t as safe or safer than normal tap water.

They have also found about one-third of the bottled water they tested contained a significant amount of contamination with levels of chemical and/or bacterial contaminants that exceed those allowed under state or industry standards.

You see, tap water comes under the jurisdiction of the EPA, which mandates a weekly testing and following procedures of their strict guidelines for public drinking water. But the FDA doesn’t require a weekly testing and reporting of the data to meet their requirements. The FDA only requires a test to be made monthly.

A lot of water can be produced for sale in a month. What happens if there is something found in the water that fails the test? It is too late to stop any health hazard. More than likely some, if not all, of this water, has already been sold and/or consumed.

Do you think that an announcement will follow after something hazardous has been discovered? It would be way too late to stop any sickness or worse, death from occurring. This would only cause a wide-spread panic amongst the masses.

If you rely on the FDA to make sure your food, your medicines, and your bottled water are safe for you to consume, then you are playing Russian Roulette with your health.

So, What’s In Tap Water?

First of all, we all know that chlorine is added to the water to kill bacteria that might be living in the water. We also know that since the fifties that fluoride has been added to the water supply to encourage better teeth and dental hygiene. So what else is lurking in your tap water?

  • Chlorine
  • Fluorine compounds
  • Trihalomethanes (THMs)
  • Salts of
    • Arsenic
    • Radium
    • Aluminum
    • Copper
      Lead
    • Mercury
    • Cadmium
    • Burium
    • Hormones
    • Nitrates
    • Pesticides
    • antibiotics

According to the EPA, generally water with a TDS (total dissolved solids) of 500 ppm (parts per million) or more is regarded as unsafe for consumption.

Normal unfiltered tap water ranges from 150 to 420 ppm TDS. A reverse osmosis water filtration system typically reduces this range of 90 – 95% of the incoming water.

The Reverse osmosis filtered water systems actually remove a significant amount of toxins that are normally found. However, it doesn’t remove the fluoride that many people have mild to severe reactions to. What’s worse, it also removes any and all minerals that are healthy and required by our bodies to help the body produce the elements and amino acids that can not be consumed from foods.

Is There A Better Alternative To Tap or Bottled Water?

As a matter of fact, there is a much better solution to solving the riddle on finding a safe alternative to purified water. A Kangen water filtration system eliminates heavy metals, arsenic, chlorine, fluoride and all the other mean, nasty, ugly toxins that promote diseases and other chronic ailments.

To better explain many more of the benefits of drinking Kangen water please see Your Body Is Water . You ask what is Kangen water?

You must read my review of the Kangen water machine in my reviews section. It has more information about this hospital quality water machine. For your convenience, follow this link, The Enagic Kangen Water  Reviews

Kangen is a Japanese term for “Return to Origin”. When ionizing water was perfected in the ’70’s, soon after, in 1974, the Enagic corporation was born. The Ministry of Health and Welfare in Japan in the 1980’s declared ionized water and the devices that produce alkaline water as medical devices because of the health benefits.

It’s sad, really, that in as great a country as the United States is, that we the people allowed our corrupt politicians to degrade what once was a safe and  healthy water supply, that belonged to everyone.

Now we the people must pay for our own security in the water we drink because ‘Big Brother’ isn’t able. Don’t let what happen in Flint Michigan happen to you or your city. Protect yourself, protect your family. Your health depends on it.

  1. Thanks for the info, Ken. I do normally drink tap water because I don’t want to be wasteful with either my money or the environment by buying bottled water.

I’ve realized from your article that bottle water may not be that much better anyway!

I will definitely look into getting a filter.

I used to have a britta filter. Is this better than that?

    1. Thank you, Jeremy, for your questions. To answer your first question, is Kangen water better than filtered water from Britta? There is no comparison. Britta removes many impurities from your water. But, it doesn’t remove Chlorine, or Flouride, or any heavy metals, or any pharmaceutical medicines. Kangen water uses a hospital grade filter which DOES remove Chlorine, Flouride, Heavy metals, Pharmaceutical medicines, plus it ionizes the water which makes it alkaline. Alkaline water hydrates the body better, removes free radicals which oxidize the body (rust), and reduces the acidity of your blood. So in one word, YES, the Kangen water machine is the Gold Standard in ionized alkaline water. Thank you Jeremy for asking.

  2. Informative article Kenneth. Thankfully, over here in the UK there is never really any issue with the water supply, so we can count ourselves lucky. Obviously, we are a smaller country than the United States, so I guess it is much easier for our water to be regulated.

    1. Tony, water everywhere is more polluted than ever. Heavy metals like lead is being found more and more in the typical public water supply. Hormones and antibiotics from pharmaceutical medicines are much more common now.
If you think that by drinking bottled water that you’re safe? Tony, think again. Bottled water is basically tap water, some of it is filtered, some of it not.
Just so you know, I am a distributor of the Kangen water machine that produces a medical grade alkaline water that hydrates the body better, reducing oxidation, and acidosis. If you want to live a long and healthful life, I urge you to get one.

  3. Wow!

I’ve snooped around the internet for different information about tap water, and it always was.. all over the place, so to say.

It’s pretty crazy how many toxins there actually are in tap water.. scary.

What do you think about bubbled water? I drink it on a daily basis, 2 l per day, since i don’t feel safe drinking tap water. Would you recommend something else, that is inexpensive?

    Thank you!

    1. Oh Nemanja, you must be talking about bottled water, right? Actually, bottled water and tap water are no different, and could sometimes be worse because bottled water is regulated by the FDA, which is already prone to unsafe practices. I would be very careful Nemanja if I were you. Good luck and stay safe!
